Amplifying fear of NATO through Black Sea security

What it claims

An increased NATO surveillance presence over the Black Sea is portrayed as a deliberate move that exposes Romania and its population to war. A diplomatic dispute and references to drones are reduced to a scheme in which Kyiv is attributed with seeking to pit Russia against NATO. Russia is thus depicted as a party merely responding to its allies’ actions.

• Reframe: Rhetoric about “inevitable escalation” does not explain events when it assigns blame to one side in advance and casts the other only as a compelled respondent.
