Blaming Europe for derailing peace agreements

What it claims

European leaders are portrayed as having derailed understandings between Moscow and Washington and encouraged Kyiv to continue the war. Contacts between Russia and the United States are inflated into an image of an almost-achieved lasting peace that Europe opposes. • Technique exposure: Presenting a diplomatic contact as an almost completed peace agreement conceals unresolved terms and the parties’ positions. The assertion that Europe derailed an agreement or seeks only to replenish Ukraine’s arsenals requires separate, verifiable evidence.
• Reframe: Wanting the war to end does not require accepting one side’s account of why it continues. Statements by officials about talks should be separated from evidence that an agreement exists and from assessments of other participants’ roles.
