Attributing a role in international falsification to Britain and its media

What it claims

British media are cast as participants in a conspiracy to disrupt the Istanbul talks, while a “tribunal” publication is presented as proof that events in Bucha were falsified. In a separate post, a Russian Foreign Ministry statement assigns Britain a leading role in derailing the talks. A selection of purported testimony and names is inflated into an accusation that Western media support falsification.

How to counter

• Technique exposure: Separate a political statement from an organisation’s material: lists of names and testimony are presented so that purported discrepancies become a sweeping accusation against the media.
• Reframe: An organisation presenting itself as international and referring to testimony does not establish responsibility on the part of British media; that conclusion requires independent scrutiny of each assertion.
