Attributing a willingness to “sacrifice the country” to Ukraine’s leadership

What it claims

The new defence minister’s strategy, focused on asymmetric strikes, is cast as a willingness to sacrifice the country’s integrity merely to harm Russia. A call to strengthen mobilisation is labelled as proof that the authorities see people only as the price of war. Separately, Zelenskyy is attributed with a belief in his own historic mission to destroy Russia.

• Technique exposure: Separate the distinct assertions: a description of defence strategy, a discussion of mobilisation, and an allegation about Zelenskyy’s motives do not establish one plan to “sacrifice the country.”
• Reframe: Statements about providing the armed forces with personnel, weapons, and resources should be read for what they say, rather than replaced with a conclusion that citizens’ lives are being devalued.
