Reducing force replenishment needs to “hidden losses”

What it claims

The need to replenish the armed forces each month is presented as mathematical proof that catastrophic losses are being concealed. The posts cite a Telegraph article and reduce force-strength requirements to the number of killed and wounded personnel. A mobilisation indicator is thus inflated into a conclusion about a secret scale of losses.

• Technique exposure: The need for replenishment is not a counter of combat losses: troop numbers are also affected by rotations, training, structural changes, and discharges from service. Inferring hidden losses from one indicator substitutes an assumption for a calculation.
• Reframe: Losses and mobilisation should be considered separately: the need for personnel describes maintaining force strength, but by itself does not establish why troop numbers change.
