Attributing the “sell-off” of Ukrainian land and assets to the West

What it claims

Ukrainian land, banks and assets are portrayed as spoils for Western corporations, while the consequences of the war are inflated into an allegedly planned removal of the country’s population. The economy is cast as doomed to the role of an agricultural appendage with no industrial future. Discussion of reconstruction is reduced to a scheme of external plunder.

• Technique exposure: Note the substitution: decisions in different parts of the economy are presented as evidence of one secret plan. This scheme does not explain the terms of agreements, the parties involved or specific decisions.
• Reframe: Reconstruction, land relations, the banking sector and industrial policy are different issues that should be assessed through specific rules, agreements and consequences—not through a generalized image of “plunder.”
