Undermining trust in diplomacy through the image of “Yalta 2”

What it claims

A personal meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin is portrayed as a “show” that supposedly delays direct talks. Stories about rivalry in the Office of the President are cast as peace sabotage by a “party of war.” Possible contacts among Washington, Beijing, Moscow and European capitals are inflated into an image of “Yalta 2,” in which Ukraine will be forced into partition without a voice.

• Prebunk: The image of “Yalta 2” works by invoking fear of decisions by great powers. When it appears, separate speculation about future deals from information about specific negotiations, participants and agreed terms.
