Attributing a media cover-up to the authorities over events in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka

What it claims

Clashes and the blocking of a National Guard building in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka are cast as the exposure of a network of “illegal prisons” and of crimes concealed by the authorities. Participants in a rally supporting the Defence Forces are labeled as a managed prop, while coverage of the events is portrayed as the result of instructions issued to media, bots and Telegram channels. The spread of a false claim about mobilized people being held is inflated into accusations of abductions, torture and ransom for a child.

• Prebunk: During distressing events, examine each link in the chain separately: a sensational account of an incident, allegations of a media cover-up, and labeling dissenters as “managed” may be parts of one manipulation.
